The Hague MUN

2018 was the 50^th Anniversary Session of The Hague MUN (THIMUN). The theme for the conference this year was “Building Civil Society through Education”.

40 students and 4 teachers from St Andrew's College participated in THIMUN from Friday, 26 January to Friday, 2 February. This year we represented the USA, Liberia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).  The USA is a very prestigious country assignment and reflects the high regard in which St Andrew’s College is perceived in the MUN.  The UNFPA is a UN organisation and is the lead UN agency with the goal of delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

We had one Student Officer (Committee Chair) - Emma Fogarty, two students on the Press team - Hannah Moran and Shane Hynes and one student on the ICJ (International Court of Justice) - Hugh Given.

The trip commenced with a cultural visit to Amsterdam. 

There are no awards presented at this conference but all students represented themselves and their school at a very high level.

Blackrock College MUN

The Blackrock College MUN took place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 February.  24 Transition Year students from St Andrew’s College participated in the event. Four Distinguished Delegates were awarded to Adam Kelly and Emma Barry representing Angola; Hanna Kerby representing Ethiopia and Oscar Doyle representing the USA.
