Success for our Students over Easter
Our students were up to great things on the seas over the Easter holidays.
The following sailors took part in the Irish Sailing Youth Performance Trials for the official Irish Youth Teams in Cork:
Seth Walker | P5 | Thirty-Fifth in the Optimist Class and will represent Team Ireland at the UK Nationals |
Peter Williams | 1st Yr | Eleventh in the Optimist Class to qualify for the Europeans in France |
Fiachra McDonnell | 1st Yr | Sixth in the Optimist Class to qualify for the Europeans in France |
Sam Ledoux | 2nd Yr | Third in the Optimist Class to qualify for the Optimist Worlds in Antigua |
Rachel Flood | 2nd Yr | Thirty-sixth in the Optimist Class to be selected for an Irish development team traveling to France |
Eve McMahon | 3rd Yr | First in the Ladies' Radial Laser class to qualify for the Youth World Competition in Poland |
This is a particularly huge achievement for Sam and Eve as they will be representing Ireland at the World Championships in their respective sailing classes.
In addition to the trials, Fiachra McDonnell raced in the Howth Yacht Club 'Brassed Off' cup, crossing the line in a very respectable third place.
Rian Geraghty McDonnell and his crew competed in the British Nationals finishing as the first under 17 boys and securing their spot with the Irish Sailing Association on the team who will be the only boys representing Ireland in Poland this July at the World Sailing 29er Youth World Championships.
