Literature Aloud
Literature Aloud in St Andrew's College was initiated in 2006 in response to the national Poetry Aloud competition in which the college had participated in previous years. The driving force behind the national Poetry Aloud competition is Mr Niall McMonagle, editor of the ‘Poetry Now’ texts for the Leaving Cert. Mr. McMonagle sat as a judge in the early years of Literature Aloud in the College. The aim of Literature Aloud is to foster a sense of literature as performance which, in our view, makes it more alive and engaging. It has been a great success in the College and is a well-attended, annual event.
