Portfolio Assessments/Interviews
The portfolio interviews take place twice during the year and are an important component of the year's overall award criteria. Each interview is conducted with the students' Form Teachers and lasts approximately ten minutes. There is extensive documentation outlining what is expected in terms of support material, preparation and presentation to achieve a top grade in the interview.
The aim of the interview process is to encourage students to participate fully in the year's events/activities and to present and reflect upon their level of involvement and effort in the Transition Year Programme. All aspects of the students' Transition Year experience should be explored from academic core subjects to time-tabled modules, including the vast range of extra-curricular activities; sporting and creative, group and individual work, school supported and activities organised outside the school environment.
Furthermore, the interview process aims to help students understand, experience and learn from the process of taking part in a meaningful interview which provides vital life skills to assist them in the future.
